Architecture of Stockholm

The capital of Sweden, Stockholm, is beautiful and an architecturally interesting city. In contrast to my post about the architecture of Rotterdam, Stockholm has few skyscrapers and an abundance of historical architecture.

Some of the architecture of Stockholm dates back to the 13th century, especially in the Gamla Stan (Old Town). Of course not all buildings date back that far. In the 17th and 18th century foreign architects were recruited and more recently Swedish architects have taken inspiration from other European nations and the USA.
